Prisoners at a maximum security jail have been placed on lockdown after a 32-year-old inmate scaled a light pole.
Images have emerged showing the shirtless man perched atop a pole next to a basketball court at the Ravenhall Prison in west Melbourne's Metropolitan Remand Centre.
Staff have placed mattresses around the pole in case the man falls, and are in negotiations with him to come down, reports Yahoo.

Corrections Victoria said in a statement the situation does not pose a risk to other prisoners or staff.
'The prison has been locked down as a precaution while the matter is resolved,' the statement said.

'There is no risk to staff or other prisoners.'
It's unknown why the prisoner decided to climb the pole.
In June a riot involving more than 300 prisoners gripped the centre, with inmates ripping apart fences and igniting fires.
