'PARANORMAL ACTIVITY' WITNESSED CLOSE TO MASS BURIAL SITE UNEARTHED IN GODALMING.

While archaeologists continue analysing the 365 skeletal remains found in Station Road, an "intriguing mystery" still surrounds the findings

Episodes of "paranormal activity" and "odd happenings" have been witnessed close to the site where 300 skeletons were unearthed in Godalming.
While archaeologists continue to analyse the 300 human remains and 65 other burials found at the Station Road site, an "intriguing mystery" still surrounds the findings, according to the Rev Canon Mervyn Roberts, Rector of Godalming.
Despite not knowing the full history about the former car park site where the 365 burials were found, Rev Roberts said he has heard theories and tales involving "paranormal activity".
“I give guided ghost walks around the town and mention some of the well known spooky stories connected with buildings in the centre of the town,” he said.
“What I find odd is the number of people who have told me things relating to paranormal activity in Church Street, Mint Street and Station Road.
“All these roads surround the area where the skeletons have been found.
“It is also strange that I have received comments in the past from people living in the property that was demolished on the site of the burials, concerned about the odd happenings that seemed to occur in the house.”

A house called Priory Orchard previously stood in the grounds of the site, which has now been demolished as work to create 14 new affordable homes got under way in March 2013.
The last family to live in Priory Orchard claimed the house was haunted. Chelsea Whiteman said her family lived there for six months while their current house was extended.

During that time she said they had strange experiences, which she believes were supernatural. She also suffered recurring dreams of a person being buried at the house.
Rev Roberts said: “One old theory about the area is that it may have once been the site of a priory and one theory for the name of Godalming is connected to the name of the first prioress.
“Whatever the origin of this site it is clear it is within the very ancient area of the town that made up the Saxon settlement.
“It is strange that I am not aware of any maps that show our church yard extending as far as the Station Road site but if you imagine all the inhabitants of a growing town being buried around the church it is quite possible the churchyard was once quite large on the south side of the church.
“Whatever the history of the site I would like to think that all those town citizens laid to rest here would not object to having their remains moved in order to help future generations of Godhelmians live peacefully and happily in the centre of our town.”

Skeletons were excavated from the site in Station Road, Godalming

The grim discoveries were unearthed in March 2013 when routine archaeological surveys were carried out for the current development ground for the affordable homes.
The skeletons previously indicated to experts that the site was used as an early Christian burial ground between the ninth and 13th centuries, before it became disconnected from the Church of St Peter and St Paul, which is located nearby.
Originally it was understood that only 20 human skeletons were found, but a spokesperson for the Surrey County Archaeological Unit (SCAU), confirmed to the Surrey Advertiser last week that the number of burials is "nearly 400".
Archaeologists from SCAU are asking for more time to conduct the "specialist analysis" required and a report is expected to be complete by the middle of this year.
Before the building plans were lodged for the affordable homes, a desk based archaeological assessment of the site was carried out and a report was printed in 2010.
The report stated that in 2007, skeletal remains were identified during the excavation of a soakaway in the south east corner of the grounds of site which was previously know as Priory Orchard.

It was noted that the "teeth were heavily worn", and this "suggested a pre-modern date for the burial".
The report concluded that the "archaeological potential of this site is considered to be good".
It stated: “The discovery of two burials at the Priory Orchard site is of great significance and it is likely that further burials will be identified across this plot and the adjacent car park.
“The Historic Environment Record and evidence from excavations undertaken in the vicinity suggest the possibility of nearby prehistoric and Roman settlement.
“It has further been shown that the mid to late Saxon evidence from Godalming is tightly centred around the church.”
A volunteer from the Surrey Archaeological Society said it did not have any extra information about the site, but said it is a "very interesting discovery which will give important information about local people in a key period of this part of Surrey".

A British mother who took her toddler son to Syria, has been found guilty of membership of so-called Islamic State.

Tareena Shakil, 26, is the first British woman to return from the self-declared caliphate to be convicted of the offence.
Shakil, of Birmingham, has also been found guilty of encouraging acts of terrorism through messages posted on Twitter. She denied the charges.
She had admitted travelling to Syria.
But following a two-week trial at Birmingham Crown Court, the jury rejected her claim that she had only wished to live under Sharia law.

'Martyr' wish

The jury was shown her tweets, messages and photographs, including images of the black flag of IS and passages calling on people to "take up arms".
She had also stated her wish to become a "martyr".

 


Shakil, of Beechfield Road in Birmingham but formerly of Burton-upon-Trent in Staffordshire, posed with her son for pictures wearing an IS-branded balaclava after secretly running away to Syria in October 2014.
She told the court it was because he "loved hats".
Her defence team maintained she went to Syria with the toddler to escape an "unhappy family life".

Tareena Shakil was charged with "membership" of the self-styled Islamic State organisation - but she never had a membership card. She says she deeply regrets going to Syria and, in a courtroom twist, told the jury she'd even been debriefed by MI5 on her return.
So why did she face this very serious charge?
Terrorism legislation basically says that membership of a banned group means to "belong".
Some organisations, such as Irish paramilitaries, had formal procedures for membership. With IS, men swear an oath, but the situation with women is less clear.
The jury was told to not think about membership in terms of belonging to a library or a gym. Instead, they had to decide whether Tareena Shakil voluntarily went to be with IS in Syria, knowing its aims, how it would achieve them and, crucially, seeking to associate with like-minded individuals.

An NSPCC spokesman said: "It is inconceivable that a mother would be willing to put her child in such a dangerous situation, potentially exposing him to harm and even death."
Shakil left IS territory in January 2015.
Her defence said she was unhappy in Syria and she told the court: "I came back of my own free will. I came back because I realised I had made a mistake."
Shakil said she caught a bus to escape the terror group's clutches, bribing a taxi driver to take her part of the way before dashing across the Turkish border under the noses of an IS patrol.
She is due to be sentenced on Monday.

Licensed Taxi Drivers Association weighs up court action claiming app’s licence should be reviewed over its corporation tax payments

 

London’s black-cab drivers are considering court action to try to revoke Uber’s licence to operate in the city, citing the fact that the ride-hailing app firm pays no corporation tax in the UK.
It emerged last October that Uber paid just £22,134 in UK corporation tax in the most recent financial year, despite making an £866,000 profit. The tax paid related to amounts deferred from previous years when Uber’s UK operation made a loss.
“Any four black-cab drivers pay more tax than Uber,” said Steve McNamara, the general secretary of the Licensed Taxi Drivers Association (LTDA). “We’re looking at a judicial review of Uber’s original licence [to operate in London]. It seems to us that Uber is not fit and proper. Uber is a worldwide conglomerate that has ignored regulators in other parts of the world. How can it be fit and proper in London?”
He said it is immoral that Uber does not pay UK corporation tax. “Even Steve Hilton [David Cameron’s former adviser] wants to put a spotlight on people within Downing Street. How can it be right that these companies get away without paying tax?”
San Franciso-based Uber has raised about $10bn (£7bn) from financing rounds but is not yet turning an overall profit as it seeks to expand in territories around the world. The company says it is at a very different stage to a company like Google, given it is still making heavy losses overall.
An Uber spokesperson said: “The comparisons being made with other companies are misplaced. They are profitable and have been for years. Uber is younger and still investing heavily.


“We make a loss and corporation taxes are paid on profits not revenues. In addition the vast majority of the revenue generated via our technology stays with our driver-partners in the local economy. When it comes to comparisons with taxis unlike black cabs we don’t take cash so all payments to drivers are traceable by the tax authorities.”‎
John Christensen, the co-founder of the Tax Justice Network, said there could be some profit-shifting in the case of Uber that has reduced the group’s UK profits.
The firm was able to pay such a low sum partly because it legally transfers profits generated within the UK to its sister company in the Netherlands, where it would be liable for a lower rate of tax.
Black-cab drivers in London last year conducted a campaign aimed at highlighting their struggle with Uber. Taxis and billboards across the capital were plastered with posters claiming that Uber does not pay tax in the UK.
The posters depicted Uber’s senior vice-president of policy and strategy, Rachel Whetstone (who is married to Hilton), and Cameron, with whom she is friends, beside a picture of George Osborne.
The LTDA said the campaign was to “highlight what we are up against”. It has a fighting fund of £1m to fund any legal action. It is working on the potential action with in-house lawyers but is considering appointing a City law firm.

BEER MADE FROM DISCARDED BREAD LAUNCHED.

 

 

 

 

 

The London based Hackney Brewery, together with a food waste charity called Feedback, have launched a pale ale made from surplus loaves of bread.

The new beer is called Toast, and the idea behind it is to deal with some of the vast quantities of bread wasted each day and promote the importance of cutting down on wasted food. Toast ale is made from surplus bread. The bread would have been thrown to waste had it not been used in the brewery process. It is estimated in the U.K. alone some 24 million slices of bread are thrown away each day. Of all the items of food discarded by homes and restaurants, bread comes top. The process of making the beer involves slicing the bread, mashing it, toasting it and then brewing it with malted barley, hops and yeast. According to the food critic of The Daily Telegraph, the beer has a distinctive taste, with caramel notes balancing out the bitter hops. The product has a malty taste, along the lines of amber ales. 

The idea for the ale was that of environmental campaigner and founder of a group called Feedback — Tristram Stuart, who contacted the Hackney Brewery, located in North London. Speaking with The Guardian about the project, Stuart said: “Tackling the global issue of food waste has taken me all over the world. We hope to eventually put ourselves out of business. The day there’s no waste bread is the day Toast ale can no longer exist.” 

Jon Swain from Hackney Brewery enthuses: "We absolutely jumped at the chance to join Feedback's fight against food waste.” He added: “The important thing for us, as brewers, was to create a beer that tasted good and stood up against other craft beers. We worked hard to brew a beer that wasn't just a fad but something that people could enjoy time after time and would have a significant impact." Each standard bottle of Toast (330 milliliters) is made from one slice of bread. 

All profits go to Feedback, for the group to campaign on issues of food waste. The cost is £3 ($5) per bottle. Over the long term the project hopes it will fold, due to a lack of availability of discarded bread, indicating the campaign has been a success. George Claudiu Albu, 32, was racing down Notting Hill in London at 60mph when he hit Christopher Jones, 23, who flew 15 metres across the road.

The impact was so horrific that one of Mr Jones' legs was completely ripped off while Albu's Bentley Continential almost flipped over.

The court description of the disturbing aftermath prompted Mr Jones’ mother to leave the room at Southwark Crown Court.

The father-of-one, who worked for the grounds maintenance firm Quadron, was in the road directing traffic around his broken down truck at the time of the crash.

The landscape gardener had been wearing a high-visibility jacket and standing in a well-lit area.

Sentencing Albu to eight years after being found guilty of death by dangerous driving, judge Andrew Goymer said: "Mr Jones did nothing wrong on that evening, nothing that could be said to contribute to the terrible events that followed.

"A Bentley Continental vehicle driven by this defendant collided with the tipper can that had broken down.

"This was the culmination of a period of prolonged, sustained, aggressive and deliberate bad driving that he started earlier that evening.

"On three separate occasions in three different locations he was described as racing, weaving, revving his engine. There was loud music blaring from the car.

"It was entirely the defendant's fault that these terrible and tragic events happened. No one is to blame for it but this defendant.

"I can well understand that the defendant continues to live with what he did. So does the family of Mr Jones, they will no doubt have to live with this to the end of their days and they are entirely innocent of any blame."

Bodybuilding-obsessed Albu had a side business in dealing cars, despite his lack of a licence

Despite the efforts of the London Air Ambulance Service Mr Jones was pronounced dead at 1.08am on 7 August.

Albu was only arrested when police traced the Bentley to his address.

He initially insisted the car belonged to another man but later admitted causing death while driving without a licence and by dangerous driving.

Albu apologised to the family and offered to pay funeral costs.

Mr Jones leaves behind a five-year-old daughter.

Michael Cogan, defending, said: "Mr Albu is suffering symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder, although he accepts this is entirely of his own making.

"Nothing he can do will ever bring this man back. He accepts entirely that this man was merely doing his job, properly, and was not personally responsible for what sadly happened to him."

ISIS VIDEO CLAIMS TO SHOW PARIS ATTACKERS, THREATENS BRITAIN.

CAIRO — A video published on Sunday by the media center of ISIS claimed to show images and last statements of nine of the people who took part in the Paris attacks that killed 130 people on Nov. 13.
Reuters could not independently verify the authenticity of the footage, which showed the men delivering anti-Western diatribes and concluded with an apparent threat to attack Britain.
The French Foreign Ministry declined to comment on the video. There was no immediate comment from the Prime Minister's office, and Reuters was not immediately able to reach officials at the Interior Ministry.
The video was uploaded to Islamic State's official channel on the Telegram app and shows some of the attackers wearing camouflage fatigues in a desert location, before the time of the Paris attacks.
Several of them are shown beheading hostages of the ultra-hardline militant group, a tactic they have frequently used.
"These are the last messages of the nine lions of the caliphate who were mobilized from their lairs to make a whole country, France, get down on its knees," a narrator in the video says.
On the night of Nov. 13 nine men, split into three groups, attacked a sports stadium, a string of cafes and a concert hall. An arrest warrant has been issued for another man, Salah Abdeslam, who fled to Belgium the following day.
The attackers are identified in the video by noms de guerre referring to their nationalities: three French, four Belgian and two Iraqis, referred to as Ali al-Iraqi and Ukashah al-Iraqi.
The two could be the suicide bombers who tried to attack the Stade de France stadium. They carried Syrian passports assumed to be forged and could not be formally identified. Seven other dead attackers have already been identified.
The video showed footage of British Prime Minister David Cameron expressing solidarity with the French people after the attacks, and concluded by flashing up a slogan on the screen saying: "Whoever stands in the ranks of kafir (infidels) will be a target for our swords."
A spokesman for British Prime Minister David Cameron said he had no immediate comment.

The current government of the island nation gave Mohamed Nasheed permission to travel to London for spinal surgery just days after attorney Amal Clooney, in an exclusive interview with NBC News' Cynthia McFadden, made the case for sanctions to win his freedom.

Clooney, who is married to activist actor-director George Clooney, and her co-counsel Jared Genser were waiting at London's Heathrow Airport when a beaming Nasheed, 48, arrived from a stopover in Dubai.
"I feel strange and uncertain. Just two days ago I was in solitary. And now I'm able to be free, at least right now," Nasheed said. "I'd like to thank everyone who made this possible. Especially my lawyers. Everyone —the people of the Maldives who worked so hard."
Clooney said Nasheed's arrival in London brought him "one step closer to justice."
"But there's still a lot to do," she said. "There are still grave problems in the Maldives and we have a lot to discuss."
"We have miles to go," Nasheed added.

Nasheed served three years as president after winning the Maldives' first democratic elections, then left office in what he says was a gunpoint coup and what the government claims was a voluntary resignation.
He was charged with terrorism for ordering the arrest of a judge while he was president and sentenced to 13 years. A United Nations official said the trial was a "mockery" of the tiny nation's constitution and a U.N. panel called for his release.
Despite criticism from Britain, the United States and other countries, the regime running the Maldives refused to free Nasheed, whose wife, Laila Ali, and children have been living in self-exile in Britain.

Last week, his legal team traveled to Washington and met with Obama administration officials and members of Congress to push for targeted sanctions against the Maldives leaders unless they agreed to let Nasheed go.
Within days, the government announced that it would allow Nasheed travel to the United Kingdom for back surgery, but that he had to return to finish out his sentence within 45 days.
Foreign Minister Dunya Maumoon told NBC News earlier this week that she has no idea if Nasheed will come back and would not say if the Maldives would press for his extradition if he balks at returning.
She called him a "convicted criminal" and said Clooney's assertion that "democracy in the Maldives is dead" was "factually untrue."

 

 

 

 

 

 

UK PM WANTS SNIFFER DOGS AND FENCING TO STOP MIGRANTS.

 

Thousands of desperate migrants attempting to scale fences around tunnel in France to cross to Britain.

UK Prime Minister David Cameron has announced that he is drawing up plans to help France tackle a spike in attempts by migrants to enter Britain illegally via the Channel Tunnel.
"The situation is not acceptable. Starting with helping the French on their side of the border, we're going to put in more fencing, more resources, more sniffer dog teams, more assistance in any way we can," Cameron said on Friday following a meeting with Britain's emergency response committee 'Cobra'.
Cameron is under pressure to deter the migrants, many of whom have travelled from Africa and the Middle East, after disruption to cross-Channel passenger and freight traffic.
"This is going to be a difficult issue right across the summer."
Britain has pledged $34m so far towards improving security at the French end of the tunnel that connects both the countries.
French police have in recent days prevented thousands of desperate attempts to scale fences around the tunnel terminal in Coquelles near Calais, although many migrants have successfully made it across.
France sent 120 additional officers to the site this week.
Cameron was expected to speak to French President Francois Hollande later on Friday to discuss the issue.

Political headache
Re-elected in May, Cameron has promised to cut net annual migration to Britain to the tens of thousands, a pledge he failed to keep during his 2010-15 term in office when it hit a near record high of over 300,000 people.
The issue is a sensitive one as it plays into Britain's debate about Europe ahead of an EU membership referendum Cameron has promised by the end of 2017.
Migrants have long gathered in Calais to try to get into Britain. But Eurotunnel, the firm that runs freight and passenger shuttles via the Channel Tunnel, said the numbers have swelled to around 5,000 people from about 600 and that it is struggling to cope.
It said migrants have also become better organised, mounting nightly attempts in large groups to storm the facilities.
Eurotunnel has sometimes been forced to suspend its services, causing disruption at what is one of the busiest times of the year for British holidaymakers.
The situation has caught the imagination of Britain's tabloid newspapers, becoming a political headache for Cameron.
He is under pressure to get tough on the migrants from many lawmakers in his ruling Conservatives. But he also has to contend with political rivals unhappy with the debate's tone.
The opposition Labour Party has criticised Cameron for referring to the migrants as a "swarm", saying the term was dehumanising and stirred public hostility against people sometimes fleeing poverty and conflict.

Tens of illegal schools are operating in Britain, Education Secretary Nicky Morgan today warned on the second day of a government crackdown on extremism.

Mrs Morgan is due to unveil a series of policies, including a website with advice on recognising when a teenager is drifting toward extreme ideas, adding to controversial measures unveiled by David Cameron yesterday.

She also backed the right of schools to ban both teachers and pupils from wearing the veil - echoing remarks from the Prime Minister yesterday that public bodies such as courts should be allowed to tell people to show their face.

The Prime Minister faced claims he was stigmatising Muslim women by announcing money to teach them English and suggesting people who come to Britain to marry could be deported if their language skills fail to progress.

Mrs Morgan today warned there were schools operating underground - sparking concern about both the lessons being taught and the places where children are being sent.

She told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: 'We don't have full data because these schools, a lot of them are operating underground, they are operating without being registered.

'We know Ofsted have inspected schools in Birmingham before Christmas which were then shut down or stopped operating. 

'We are certainly talking about more than one or two - we are probably talking about tens rather than hundreds but that's what we need to know and that's where we rely on the intelligence and working with local authorities and others to make sure children are not being educated in these illegal schools.

'It's not just about what they are taught but we are concerned about the conditions in which they are taught as well.

'That goes back to the whole regard we have for the welfare of children.'

Mrs Morgan said uniform policy is 'very much up to schools' and head teachers have the right to decide if they want to ban the veil.

Mr Cameron has also said he would back institutions that have 'sensible rules' over Muslims wearing full-face veils, but he ruled out a full public ban.

Mrs Morgan said: 'The Prime Minister was absolutely right to say, and we have a very clear view in this country, we are not going to tell people what they can and they can't wear, that would cut across the values we are talking about that we want everybody to follow.

'But there are times, there are institutions and organisations where it is right - schools will be one of them - where the school leaders want to have a clear uniform policy they want everybody to observe and they may decide that point, that they don't want people to wear the full-face veil.'

She added: 'It very much is up to the schools, schools will have a uniform policy.

'But there are certain things, particularly in relation to teachers who are teaching young children, particularly learning to read and to speak, where actually seeing the teacher's mouth is very, very important in understanding them.'

Mrs Morgan said the rules should cover both teachers and pupils: 'I think it applies to both. Teachers are very much role models for their pupils.'

Ofsted chief Sir Michael Wilshaw told BBC2's Newsnight he would back banning veils: 'The Prime Minister's view that we have got to make sure that our liberal values, our liberal West values, are protected, people need to listen to that.

'The Muslim community needs to listen to it as well. We have come a long way in our society to ensure that we have equality for women and that they are treated fairly.

'We mustn't go backwards.'

Sir Michael said he backs individual schools choosing to stop Muslim girls wearing the veil, 'particularly if it is stopping good communication in the classroom and in the lecture hall'.

He told the programme the veil is 'possibly' stopping teachers and pupils communicating well.

'My inspectors say on occasions they go into classrooms where they see there are problems about communications,' he said.

Mr Cameron has ruled out the idea of imposing a French-style ban on full-face veils in public as part of a drive to build community integration and counter extremism.

'In our country people should be free to wear what they like,' he told the BBC on Monday.

But the Prime Minister insisted he would support institutions that need to 'see someone's face'.

He said: 'When you are coming into contact either with different institutions or, for instance, you are in court or you need to see someone's face at the border, then I would always back the authorities or the institutions that have put in place proper and sensible rules.

'Going for the French approach of banning an item of clothing, I do not think that's the way we do things in this country and I do not think that would help.'

 Critics say dozens of children have been investigated since schools became obliged to report any suspicious activity

  A Muslim boy has been quizzed by police after mistakenly writing that he lived in a 'terrorist house' rather than a 'terraced house'.

The 10-year-old made the error during an English lesson at a primary school in Accrington, Lancashire, and the following day officers arrived at his home to interview him and examine the family laptop.

Speaking to the BBC, the boy's family said the incident on December 7 had shocked them and asked for the police and school to apologise.

His cousin, who has not been named to protect his identity, said: 'You can imagine it happening to a 30-year-old man, but not to a young child.

'We’re absolutely disgusted that this has happened to our family.

 "He became more isolated, he wasn’t talking to anybody at that time, he wasn’t sleeping or eating properly, he was just hiding away under a blanket.

'If the teacher had any concerns it should have been about his spelling.

'They shouldn't be putting a child through this. He's now scared of writing, using his imagination.'

She added that she initially thought the incident had been a joke.

The Counter Terrorism and Security Act was brought in last year and means schools have a statutory duty to prevent youngsters from being radicalised.

However opponents to the act have argued the law forces teachers and school officials to forego common sense and overact for fear of breaking the law.

Miqdaad Versi, assistant secretary-general of the Muslim Council of Britain, said he was aware of dozens of cases similar to that of the schoolboy.

'There are huge concerns that individuals going about their daily life are being seen through the lens of security and are being seen as potential terrorists rather than students,' he said.

A spokeswoman for Lancashire Police told MailOnline: 'This was reported to the police but was dealt with by a joint visit by a PC from the division and social services, not by anyone from Prevent.

'There were not thought to be any areas for concern and no further action was required by any agency.'

 

 

 

 

 

 

GREEN LIGHT FOR SYRIAN MIGRANTS TO COME TO BRITAIN.

Judges have ordered that four Syrian refugees living in "The Jungle" migrant camp in Calais should be brought to Britain immediately in a human rights case which could have far-reaching implications for border controls.

The Immigration and Asylum Tribunal in central London heard the young men all faced "intolerable" conditions in the camp and were desperate to be reunited with their siblings in Britain.

The Refugee Council, the charity which backed the case involving a 17-year-old and his mentally-ill 26-year-old brother, plus two other teenage boys, said it was a "ground-breaking judgment".

 

It could set an important legal precedent that could allow many other refugees wanting to cross the Channel from Calais to come to Britain.

MigrationWatch UK, which campaigns for tougher border controls, criticised the court’s decision and said the application appeared to be a move to “short-circuit” international asylum laws.
The 26-year-old brother of one applicant, named only as Ahmed, said he was "very, very worried" about his teenage sibling, who suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and has been living in the Jungle since October.
It is unclear whether the mental health problems emerged as a result of his journey as a migrant or from earlier in his life.
Ahmed said his brother had witnessed the death of a female refugee in the camp.
"He has known some of them personally. He saw one woman who died," said Ahmed, who lives in west London.
"Things were so bad my brother said he wanted to go back to Syria

  "Life is so difficult there. He is a teenager and to see the things he has seen there is so difficult for him. It is very, very difficult.

Ahmed said he had been "very, very worried" about his brother, but hoped he would be able to come and "start a life here".
The Home Office fought the application and is understood to be preparing to appeal against the decision.
However, even a successful appeal is unlikely to have any effect on the case of the four Syrians as the court indicated they could come to Britain urgently.
The ruling was made unanimously by Mr Justice McCloskey, the president of the immigration tribunal, and Judge Mark Ockelton, the vice-president.
Under EU law known as the Dublin III regulation the Syrians would only be allowed to join their relatives in Britain if they had already applied for asylum in France.
Lawyers for the four successfully argued that because of bureaucratic failings in France and the refugees' entitlement to a family life under Article 8 of the European Convention of Human Rights, they should immediately be brought to Britain and their asylum applications processed here.

Judith Dennis, from the Refugee Council, said: "This judgment has shone a welcome light on the plight of refugees seeking protection in Europe who are desperately trying to reach their relatives.
"Everyone has the right to live in safety with their loved ones.
“European governments must work together to ensure families are reunited safely and speedily, especially when it comes to children and other dependant family members."
Michael Fordham QC, representing the applicants, told the hearing the case could open the door to other applications from refugees at the camp hoping to come to Britain.
He said: "It will apply to others - certainly, I would say, any unaccompanied minor in this camp with a sibling in the UK. And I don't shrink from that'

  But he added: "It's not part of my argument that the Secretary of State is obliged to take an unaccompanied minor from Calais who doesn't have family here."
The court heard all the men have been traumatised and squalid conditions at the camp were aggravating their health problems.
Alp Mehmet, of MigrationWatch, said: “The decision is simply wrong. It will encourage more and more to bypass the system for asylum.
“I encourage the Home Office to appeal as forcefully as possible.
“It seems these four applicants are unhappy with the treatment of their asylum case in France and rather than trying to address that are simply trying to short-circuit the rules to have their case considered here.”

TWO HENCHMEN EXECUTIONER GIGGLED AS THEY WATCHED BEHEADING VIDEO WHILE EATING MEAL IN LONDON RESTAURANT.

 

For some people, it is a normal activity to watch beheading video while eating your meal.

 Two henchmen of the ISIS militant branded ‘Jihadi Sid’ have been caught on camera laughing as they watched men being murdered in a gruesome propaganda video while they ate in a London restaurant.

Benefits claimant Mohammed Shamsuddin and London bus driver Abu Haleema, who now run the Islamist group formerly fronted by Abu Rumaysah, giggled as they watched the footage of men having their heads blown off and being drowned in a swimming pool.

Shamsuddin exclaimed, ‘The guy is foaming at his mouth, you know what I mean. Wow,' while Haleema added: ‘That’s a HD quality bruv, 4k.’

Londoner Abu Rumaysah, 32, is suspected of being the masked fanatic waving a pistol at the camera in a gruesome IS propaganda video showing the murder of five men released this month.

His two associates, who continue to preach and recruit in the UK, told a Channel 4 documentary that his ‘legacy lives on’ here as they boasted that they are ‘brainwashing’ youngsters with their ‘deadly’ message.

Asked for their reaction to the video while they ate at a restaurant in Harrow, North-West London, Haleema said: 'It's a deterrent, innit. If a spy knows he's going to die like that, the worst way of dying, he's not going to want to do it.'

Shamsuddin laughed at the footage but also called it 'horrific', adding: 'It's a horrible way to die, there's no disputing that.'

Despite his extreme views, Shamsuddin also admitted he was a fan of The Great British Bake Off - but added that he did not regard Nadiya Hussain, the most recent winner, to be a real Muslim.

Rumaysah, believed to be an associate of one of Lee Rigby’s killers, added: ‘We don’t believe in sovereignty for the Queen, we don’t believe that authority should be in the hands of the non-Muslims.

A few months after being filmed in 2014, Rumaysah escaped the UK with his wife and four children after being bailed for terror offences.

He later posted a picture online of him holding his baby while waving an AK-47. 

Abu Haleema, who has taken over Rumaysah's group in the UK, was previously accused of radicalising a schoolboy convicted of Remembrance Day beheading plot last year, and admitted in the documentary that he was in daily contact with the 14-year-old.

He also described his plans to emulate IS executions in the UK by having homosexuals ‘chucked off high buildings’ and adulterers stoned to death in a public square in Ealing, West London.

He said large crowds would likely come out to watch the barbaric executions, explaining ‘people like that kind of stuff innit.’

Haleema also blamed the Paris attacks on the French people, claiming: ‘The chickens have come home to roost isn’t it, so it’s something they brought upon themselves.

‘This is what happens in war isn’t it, obviously we don’t condone the killing of innocents, but this is what happens in war.’

Haleema repeatedly posts internet videos denouncing British values which have won him a large following. He has previously worked as a bus driver, although it is not known if he still does so.

He said: ‘What I’m saying in my videos, this is the basic message of Islam, and the aim of these videos is to radicalise people.

‘It’s to brainwash people, to clean their brain of the filth of the kuffar [non-believers]. And obviously if ISIS is calling to the same thing then that’s just a coincidence.’

Shamsuddin admitted: ‘Our message is deadly, we are calling for world domination, and for Shariah for the UK, and for that alone, our message is quite deadly.’ 

The 39-year-old father of five was brought up in North London by his Indian parents - his father was a restaurant chef - and studied at Southampton Solent University.

Shamsuddin is said to have developed extremist views after he invited radical cleric Omar Bakri Mohammed to speak at the university's Islamic society, of which he was the head.

In September 2014, he was arrested on suspicion of encouraging terrorism and being a member of a banned group, but he was never charged.

Haleema was last year banned from using Twitter and previously had his passport confiscated over fears he could travel to Syria, although he insisted he had done nothing wrong.

His name came up in an unrelated terror trial recently, when a court heard that he had been unable to help another extremist make a video because he had to go to his local job centre.

Director Jamie Roberts said he had 'chills' when he heard Rumaysah’s voice in the recent IS propaganda video.

After the video came out, he received a text from Shamsuddin with a link and the message: 'You may know the voice.'

Mr Roberts said he thought much of Rumaysah's rhetoric was 'fantasy', adding: 'The black flag over Downing Street - I don't believe that's ever going to happen but someone might try and do it.'
