POLICE had to run for safety after being surrounded by an angry mob of migrants when they went to rescue a 10-year-old boy who had been repeatedly raped.

Police were forced to flee an angry mob of migrants as officers tried to rescue a child rape victim

The ten-strong squad of officers had to flee after arriving at the asylum centre to look for the boy after reports he had been raped many times.
They leapt through a fire exit after being surrounded by the baying mob at the Signalisten asylum centre Västerås, Sweden.

The terrifying incident was detailed in a police report and has emerged just days after a woman was stabbed to death at a refugee centre in Sweden.
In the report, obtained by Vestmanlands Läns Tidning, a police officer said: “Even more people appeared behind us. I was mentally prepared to fight for my life.

“We were 10 police officers in a narrow corridor. And I hear someone yell that there is an emergency exit.”
The drama unfolded as the Swedish authorities decided to relocate some of the refugees from the centre after reports of child abuse.

However, as the staff at the centre tried to implement the move, some of the migrants grew angry and frantic workers called the police.
There is growing tension in Sweden as the country struggles to cope with the influx of migrants it is hosting.

Alexandra Mezher was stabbed to death

Alexandra Mezher, 22, was working at a refugee centre in Mölndal when she was fatally stabbed after a quarrel broke out among asylum seekers.
A 15-year-old boy was later arrested on suspicion of murder.

More than a million migrants entered Europe last year

Sweden’s Prime Minister Stefan Lofven visited the centre where Miss Mezher was killed and said many Swedes feared there could be more attacks.
Speaking to Radio Sweden, Mr Lofven said: "I believe that there are quite many people in Sweden who feel a lot of concern that there can be more cases of this kind, when Sweden receives so many children and youth, who come alone [to seek asylum].”

According to the Swedish migration agency violent incidents at reception centres have doubled from 2014 to 2015.
In 2014, 148 incidents were reported against 322 in 2015.
The latest incident comes after National Police Commissioner Dan Eliasson equested 4,100 additional officers and support staff.
