MAN RUNS INTO BURNING HOUSE TO SAVE DOGS... THEN GETS ARRESTED.

A DOG lover has been arrested after ignoring firefighters to keep out of his burning home as he tried to save his pets.

Wendell Joyner even grabbed a firefighter's axe and threw it through a window to get to his three dogs as smoke billowed out of the house from the raging fire.
Joyner, 58, was left covered in bandages after sheriff's deputies tackled him as the fire, started by a television, took hold.

Fire crews eventually saved the dogs but Joyner now faces charges for disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and tampering with the fire axe.
"I got out of the house, and then I realised, 'Oh, wait a minute, my dogs are in there," Joyner later told reporters at the scene.
"So, I went back inside to look for my dogs." He went on to explain how he kept getting overcome by smoke and had to leave his property Cocoa, Florida, but when he saw his opportunity he grabbed the axe and smashed through the window.

A Brevard County sheriff's spokesman said deputies suspected Joyner was intoxicated when they arrived and feared what he may have done with the axe.
Joyner underwent a CAT scan after the incident and has reunited with his dogs.
