MILO, 1.25KG TIN | This Australia-manufactured cocoa-flavoured powdered drink is a fixture in many of our lives. It retails at a whopping S$23.70 at Fairprice, but at a mere fraction of AUD12 (S$13.67) in Australia’s Coles supermarket.

A GLASS OF HOUSE WINE | We know the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) report compares the prices of a bottle of table wine, but that is not quite level ground for Singapore’s wining crowd (prices of wine bottle fluctuate, even before the alcohol tax came into effect). Instead we’re comparing prices of a glass of wine, and it comes to around S$12. Over in Zurich, Switzerland, a glass is CHF6.50 (S$9.34).

 10 eggs organic
CHEW’S ORGANIC SELENIUM EGGS, 10 | The main stars of our eggs Benedicts can be had at S$3.95 for ten, though they’re considerably cheaper in Malaysia at RM5.39 (S$2.09).

Gardenia white bread

A LOAF OF GARDENIA BREAD | A loaf of the long-standing brand’s sliced bread retails in Singapore for S$2, but if you cross the border to Malaysia, the all-white (not 'enriched', sorry) slices can be had for as little as RM2, which comes to around S$0.77.

LAduree macarons

LADUREE MACARONS | While in Paris, France, the individual macarons can be had for €1,70 (S$2.97), these babies go for S$3.50 a pop at the Takashimaya branch.
